We work for Israel
Can you get a job at an Israeli company without leaving Ukraine? Strangely enough, you can. The most obvious option is to find work at an office of one of the companies from the Holy Land which have been open here for a long time (or not such a long time). We have made a list of 10 companies that are worth noticing:
1. Frutarom
This company which manufactures flavoring agents and flavor additives for food, cosmetic and tobacco products, drinks and animal feed was founded in 1933. Today it manufactures over 20,000 products for customers in 120 countries. The Ukrainian office is located in Kiev, and the main office is in Haifa.
This international café chain also has several espresso bars in Ukraine. The first café in the chain was opened in Kiev in 2009 – and today there are already four Aroma Espresso bars in the capital. Various creative events regularly take place at the central café in Kiev, from literature readings to meetings with successful young businesspeople, so you could say that Aroma Espresso cafés are also art bars to a certain extent. Unfortunately, they are not represented in other Ukrainian cities.

— On 19 February at 21:21 the main Kiev café of the chain at 5 Delovaya Street invites everyone to the VIRSHI VNOCHI poetry reading, this time featuring Dakh Daughters. Entry is 50 hryvnia, with all takings going automatically to the Tabletochki charitable organization. In another Kiev Aroma Espresso Bar (3 Mechnikova Street) on 22 February at 3 p.m, you can discover all the secrets of correct nutrition at the lecture “Eat and Lose Weight” read by Natalya Samoilenko, the endocrinologist and creator of the “Eat Easy” correct rations of balanced nutrition. Entry 100 hryvnia.
3. Wix
Wix, the company founded in Tel-Aviv in 2009, currently operates in several countries around the world, including Ukraine. Wix did not open its office in Kiev, and not even in Kharkov, Lvov or Odessa – it chose Dnepropetrovsk as a base for its Ukrainian branch. Wix provides a cloud platform for independent wed development to 59 million users from 190 countries. The company emphasizes the fact that everyone can create their own site without specialized knowledge, using one of the templates offered. But the company also provides special premium plans for a fee.
There are currently four positions available at the company’s Ukrainian office in Dnepropetrovsk: Front end developer, Front End technical lead, QA engineer and office manager.
4. Playtika
The company was founded in 2010, and makes games for social networks – they include Slotomania, WSOP and Farkle Pro. The head office is in Tel-Aviv, with Ukrainian offices in Vinnitsa, Dnepropetrovsk and Kiev (and also Simferopol, according to the website, but it is unclear at present whether this office is still working).
Playtika has many open vacancies in Ukraine – they are looking for new full-time employees in five professional fields: development (14 vacancies), QA (6), engineering (6), technologies (2) and HR (2). Of course, they want technical specialists in most positions, but in Kiev, for example, the company is also looking for English teachers for their employees.
5. PlariumGames
The company develops browser, mobile and social games. Based in Tel-Aviv, the developer has also opened several offices in Ukraine – in Kharkov, Nikolaev, Kiev, Lvov and Simferopol (the fate of the last office is unknown). The company’s portfolio includes successful projects of social, mobile and browser games such as Sparta: War of Empire, Stormfall: Age of War, MageCraft и Pirates: Tides of Fortune. According to their calculations, since the company and its first projects were launched in 2009, over 115 million users have played Plarium games.
The company has many vacancies on its site – the list is different for each office. For example, to expand the Kharkov team, it is looking for 20 people of different professions (from developers and artists to copywriters and editors), while the Nikolaev and Simferopol offices only offer two vacancies each.
6. Ubertesters
This company from Tel-Aviv that tests applications received the main prize of 15,000 Euros in the startup competition IDCEE 2013 in Kiev. The platform offers tools for fixing all kinds of buds, and also helps to manage a project efficiently and monitor the main processes, allowing project managers to control the testing process more successfully. Neither the company’s official site nor their pages on social networks say where their offices are located, but the respectable startup database Crunchbase says that Ubertesters has its central office in Israel and an affiliated office in Ukraine.
The company’s website does not have any specific vacancies, but there is a special section in which Ubertesters invites everyone to become a tester and describes all the advantages of this work.
7. Amsel & Co
The only Ukrainian legal office which is an affiliated branch of an Israeli office. The head office of the legal and notary firm Amsel-Levi-Hasid is located in Tel-Aviv, and its Ukrainian branch, which opened in 1999, is in Kiev. The website says that there are nine lawyers at the Kiev office, and 10 at the Israeli office.
8. JUMP
The Israeli clothing brand opened a chain of stores in Ukraine in 2007. The Ukrainian version does not have all that many Israeli items anymore – the flagship brand of the store is now Blooms footwear, which is created by Ukrainian designers.
The Israeli brand of jewelry in the Victorian style and vintage elements of home décor, which was founded in Tel-Aviv in 1988, has around 50 stores around the world. There is just one boutique of this brand in Ukraine – it was opened in March 2012 at “Globus” in Kiev.
10. Innovecs
This company successfully works in the field of technology outsourcing and specialized in planning and developing innovative turnkey software solutions. They are the only company on the list that works in the opposite way: its headquarters are in Kiev, and one of the branch offices is located in Tel-Aviv. What’s more, Innovecs is not a Ukrainian company, it’s American. Isn’t that tricky?
The company’s website currently offers 9 vacancies – as usual, most of them are technical (such as “C++ developer” or “iOS software engineer”), but they are also looking for non-technical employees – for example, the position of accountant is open.
