To mark 18 Elul, Chai Elul, a delegation of respected members of the Jewish Community of Dnipro traveled to Hadiach to visit the ohel of Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the founder of the Chabad movement, known as the Alter Rebbe. The Jewish Community of Dnipro reported this.
At the resting place of the First Rebbe of Lubavitch, representatives from Dnipro prayed on behalf of the city’s entire Jewish community and took part in a farbrengen dedicated to this special date on the Jewish calendar.
The community noted that visiting the ohel of a tzaddik holds special significance in Jewish tradition. They prayed for the welfare of the Jews of Dnipro, their families and loved ones, as well as for those in need of help and support. During the farbrengen, they spoke about the Alter Rebbe’s spiritual legacy, the teachings of Chabad, and the need to strengthen the study of Torah and Hasidism, observance of the mitzvot, and love of one’s fellow.
“It was very important for us to come together on Chai Elul and travel to Hadiach, to the Alter Rebbe’s ohel, in order to spend this special day in prayer, the study of Hasidism, and a genuine Hasidic farbrengen,” said Rafael Sapozhnikov.
