The annual 11th International Babyn Yar March of Remembrance will take place in Kyiv on September 29, 2026. The event organizers announced this.
The March of Remembrance is described as a personal initiative that has grown into a mass event over the course of eleven years. In 2019, more than 1,000 people took part, making it one of the world’s largest memorial events dedicated to the Holocaust.
The march is organized by the NGO March of Remembrance. Its founders and organizers are Yevhen Horodetskyi, Dmytro Yurinov, and Stella Kirtadze. Participants will walk to the site of the mass shootings at Babyn Yar along the same route taken by more than 33,000 Kyiv residents on their way to be executed on September 29 and 30, 1941. Most of them were Jews.
The event is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Hlybochytska Street and Sichovykh Striltsiv Street, opposite the Kyivska Rus cinema. A briefing will be held at 3:10 p.m., and at 3:15 p.m. the procession will set off for the Babyn Yar National Historical and Memorial Reserve. At 4:00 p.m., a rabbi will recite a memorial prayer near the Menorah monument, and the march will conclude at 4:30 p.m.
The organizers emphasize that the initiative is independent and has no affiliation with political forces or outside organizations. Participation in the march is free.
