SHABAK: Netanyahu’s son returned to Israel from the United States because of a threat

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s eldest son, Yair Netanyahu, was urgently returned to Israel from the United States because of a serious threat. Israel’s Shin Bet internal security service (SHABAK) reported this on August 29.

The security service said that Yair Netanyahu “was indeed facing a significant danger.” “In view of this threat and following an assessment of the situation, a decision was made to urgently return him to Israel together with his security detail,” Israeli media quoted SHABAK as saying.

SHABAK did not specify what the threat consisted of, nor did it comment on reports about possible Iranian plans to assassinate one of the Israeli prime minister’s sons, which Benjamin Netanyahu himself had discussed earlier.
