A new settlement, Noa, was officially established south of the communities of Ganim and Kadim. It is the eighth settlement created by the Shomron Regional Council in less than a year, the council’s press service reported.
According to the source, the first families have already moved in and begun forming a new community at the site. At the ceremony, the ribbon was cut by Shomron Regional Council head Yossi Dagan, Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar, Minister of National Missions and Settlement Orit Strock, Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism Amichai Chikli, Knesset member Boaz Bismuth, and Zeev Hever (Zambish).
During the ceremony, Yossi Dagan recited the blessing traditionally said when a new Jewish settlement is established in the Land of Israel. Participants also affixed a mezuzah and opened the settlement’s first residential buildings.
Noa is located south of Ganim and Kadim—communities evacuated as part of the disengagement plan and recently reestablished. The Shomron Regional Council says the establishment of the new settlement will strengthen the Jewish presence in Northern Samaria and create a continuous chain of Jewish settlements there. The project is part of the “Revival Plan” and the “One Million in Samaria” initiative.
Yossi Dagan said that the Noa settlement is a “Zionist response” to those who believed the settlement movement would come to a halt. According to him, “new, thriving communities and thousands of families” will emerge at the sites of the four destroyed settlements.
