The Charitable Foundation “Historical and Cultural Center of the City of Uman” has published rules for pilgrims’ arrival in Uman in 2026. Access to the pilgrimage area will be restricted from September 4 to 16.
The statement says that travel by motor vehicle is prohibited during curfew hours. Movement during this period, which lasts from 00:00 to 04:00 in Cherkasy Oblast, is possible only when accompanied by a police patrol—from state border crossing points to Uman.
Large passenger vehicles carrying pilgrims may enter the city only at one location—Vyzvolyteliv Street. Passengers will disembark and proceed to the pilgrimage area via Chelyuskintsiv Street if arriving by large vehicles, and at the intersection of Turystiv and Sadova streets if arriving by passenger cars.
At the entrance to Uman and at the intersection of Turystiv and Sadova streets, pilgrims will be screened for prohibited items using technical equipment. However, when accompanied by a police patrol, this screening is not carried out at the filtration checkpoint.
In the pilgrimage area, it is prohibited to bring in or transport alcohol; sell alcoholic beverages and alcohol-containing substances; or carry pyrotechnics, knives and other pointed or cutting objects, air guns, toys that imitate weapons, as well as weapons, explosives, mock-ups and items resembling weapons. Travel through the pilgrimage area by scooters, motor scooters, quad bikes and tricycles is also prohibited. Pilgrims were urged to strictly comply with law enforcement officers’ requirements, observe the curfew, and respond to the “Air Raid Alert” and “Missile Threat” signals.
